Author Guidelines

The criteria for papers published in our journal are as follows:

  1. Paper must match the focus and scope of Dawamuna: Journal of Da’wah and Islamic Studies.
  2. Paper are new and original and must be written in either Indonesian or English.
  3. Paper submitted have never been published or are in the process of submitting publication in other journals.
  4. The article is typed using the Garamond font, 12 pt, 1.5 spaces, and written on A4 size paper.
  5. The length of characters in the paper is 4000-5000.
  6. Papers must be prepared using the template provided. Download template here.
  7. The structure of the paper to be submitted consists of INTRODUCTION, DISCUSSION, CONCLUSION, REFERENCES.
  8. Paper are prepared based on the following guidelines:
  9. Title
  • The title should be short and clear.
  • In accordance with the focus of the problem in the article.
  • The title consists of the main idea followed by an explanation.
  • Title writing consists of a maximum of 14 words, in bold, and capitalized each word.
  1. Author:
  • The author of the article is mentioned under the title of the article without mentioning the academic degree.
  • It is written in bold with a font size of 12 pt.
  • Author affiliations and email addresses are listed below the author's name.
  1. Abstract
  • Abstract is written concisely. Includes: scope of discussion, scope of study, research methods and approaches, and research findings.
  • Abstracts are written in Indonesian and English.
  • Abstract length ranges from 100-250 words in one paragraph.
  • The abstract is written in font size 11, 1 space, and justified.
  1. Keyword

Key words consist of 3-5 words.

  1. Introduction
  • Written in bold capital letters, no discussion term is needed.
  • The introduction consists of 4 paragraphs. Paragraph 1: contains research problems. Paragraph 2: contains literature review/state of art. Paragraph 3: contains argument/hypothesis/thesis. Paragraph 4: purpose and method of study.
  • Writing paper in the Dawamuna: Journal of Da’wah and Islamic Studies uses the in note model, for example (Jindan, 1979:76) for a single referral; (Hodgson, 2002: 90; Jindan, 1979: 21) for referrals of more than one uses a semicolon (;) as a delimiter between one reference and another reference other.
  • Arabic Writing (Quran and Al-Hadith). Example: (Al-Baqarah [2] : 130).
  1. Discussion

Results and Discussion contains discussions and sub-themes which are the main discussion in the paper and the resulting findings. Here you can discuss every aspect of the problem one by one. It is necessary to build arguments and to provide the original data being discussed and compared with the research and work of other scholars. In other words, how to discuss the problem here is with combining data and discussion. So, not recommended for separates only from the analysis above.

Each sub-heading in each section of the article is written using stressing ranking (bold or bold-italic);

  • Rank 1 (CAPITAL LETTERS, BOLD). For example INTRODUCTION, DISCUSSION, and CONCLUSION.
  • Rank 2/Sub Title (Capital Letter at the Beginning of a Word, Bold). For example: Religion.
  • Rank 3/Sub-Sub Titles (Capital at the Beginning of Words, Bold-Italic). For example: Islam abangan.
  1. Conclusion

Conclusions should be answers to research questions, and expressed not in a statistical sentence. The presentation is in the form of flowing paragraphs containing one link fill with other contents. Use terms with substantive meaning in the field of science and avoid statistical/methodological technical terms. In this section you can also give your acknowledgment to people and parties its support makes your research possible.

  1. References

Reference sources use primary sources such as paper in scientific journals or proceedings, paper in books from research results, historical sites, artifacts, and others that are original works. The ratio of these primary sources is 25% compared to other sources and comes from publications in the last 5 years.

The bibliography writing technique is recommended to use EndNote, Mendeley, Zotero, and uses the APA Style. See example following (full details can be seen in the technical provisions for writing a bibliography):

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).

2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.

3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.

4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.

5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
